Fancy dress is part of the fun,  with tweed and tartan at the top of the what-to-wear list. When the gun goes  off, a rampage of wool-wearing runners will storm along the tree lined avenues  of Scotland'rs oldest inhabited house, and towards the many challenges that  await them. Whether you sign up to the daylight  5k (and the rest) or the torchlit 10k (and then some), you'll pit yourself  against the landscape of the breathtaking Tweed Valley: followed by a notorious after-party, with legendary live music and local hospitality, and a  comfortable conclusion as you drift soundly away in their onsite camping area, or better still, here at Innerhaven..

Watch out for an enduro-style event with a bit of European style at Glentress – a proper all-mountain enduro on an fantastic course with some cool surprises and some excellent secret trails in the pipeline.  Watch this space and start thinking tyre & bike choice – for climbing, hooning dh, man-made, natural, roots, loose, hard-pack… The descent will be up there as one of the best descents in the country. TweedLove is a festival of bike-riding, live music and good times in the cycle-friendly Tweed Valley – an area with hundreds of miles of the country’s best trails, tracks and roads. So it’s not surprising that here in the valley we have a remarkable number of resident bike fans, of both the mountain and road variety. Every year we put together a festival of bike events and invite everyone to join us for a week or so of riding bikes and good times.

For the first time, Innerleithen MTB Racing and Alpine Bikes are working together to bring you the 2012 Alpine Winter Series. There are some changes to the series including more multi-stage style races in recognition of feedback from riders. The Series consists of three races over three months with prizes in various categories for individual races as well as the overall series. A special prize will be awarded to the rider with the best overall series performance that uses the same bike for all three races.

Innerleithen MTB Racing is delighted to announce the Alpine Winter Series of events as follows: 

• Weekend 28th/29th January Alpine Winter Series Race 1: Multi-Stage XC Enduro 
• Weekend 18th/19th February Alpine Winter Series Race 2:Multi-Stage Day/Night Enduro
• Weekend 3rd/4th March Alpine Winter Series Race 3: Traditional Downhill Race

All events will be held within Traquair Forest, Innerleithen.

The first Alpine Winter Series race in January is a Multi-Stage XC Enduro comprised of a number of special stages on the Sunday, with practice allowed on the Saturday afternoon. This is a relaxed event where riders ride between special timed stages with their mates, swapping stories of the stage just completed and those yet to come. Special stages are mainly downhill XC routes, with some climbing included. January in Innerleithen could give us anything from glorious sunshine to drifting snow, so good tyre choice will be essential. 

February sees race two in the Alpine Winter Series – a Multi-Stage Day/Night Enduro. A similar relaxed atmosphere to Race One is expected, but this time the special stages will be raced at night, as well as by day.

The final race in the Alpine Winter Series is a traditional DH event with uplift service. Practice and qualifying on the Saturday will be followed by further practice and race runs on Sunday. 

This prize giving will include the award of the overall Winter Series Champion. 

The Mighty Deerstalker is a turbo-charged roller coaster of a run. It's fun, it's fast, it's action-packed and it's as tough as you can bear. The Laird welcomes you to the Tweed Valley where water and mountains will give you pain and pleasure in the equal measure before making back to the finish line to share the tales of derring-do over a pint of Deerstalker Ale. Remember, Deerstalkers do it in tweed.
