Mountain Biking
Some of our visitors come here for no other reason than to ride their mountain bikes. And we know why!
Your hosts - Andy and Aneela - are mountain-bike ‘veterans’ (with scars, aches and pains to prove it!), and it was the huge variety of fantastic riding on our doorstep that convinced us to make the move to Innerleithen a few years ago.
If you’re familiar with the area, you’ll already know what the superb purpose-built 7Stanes trails have to offer. And it’s not an idle boast that the area offers some of the world’s best mountain biking with internationally renowned Traquair cross country and Red Bull downhill trails just five minutes from the house.
What you might not be so familiar with is the abundance of ‘natural’ trails all around innerhaven, or the novel ways all sorts of trails can be linked and ‘mixed and matched’ once you’ve got a better feel for the landscape around the Tweed Valley - so if you’d like to get to know the biking around Innerleithen and Glentress a bit better, Andy and Aneela’ll be happy to show you around whenever they can.
And if we’re too busy cooking up some gourmet delights for you, to get out and play on our bikes (or more realistically doing the piles of laundry!), then why not hook up with the friendly folks from MTB Borders or Curly Trails - what they don’t know about biking in Southern Scotland just isn’t worth knowing.
If you’re a die hard biker whose riding has plateaued, or a newbie looking to develop great technique - we can hook you up with several professional MTB coaches - who’ll sort your ‘manual’ from your ‘wheelie’, and show you how to ‘get air’ without cheating (SPD users take note!).
If you want to explore further afield, but don’t feel like driving, then why not get in touch with the Milky Bar Kid (aka Paul Tait) from Bikebus.net who runs a unique bike n rider transportation service.
Visit our friends and make the most of your stay at innerhaven.
